Cheshire West and Chester Council have officially commenced refurbishment works on Ellesmere Port Market and the adjoining flea market space, marking a significant new chapter for one of the town’s most recognisable community hubs.
The redevelopment aims to modernise and revitalise the market area, creating a more flexible and accessible destination for traders, visitors, and community events. As part of the plans, the former flea market area will be transformed into a dedicated events space designed to host a wide range of activities, markets, exhibitions, and cultural events in the future.
The space previously played host to Ellesmere Port Collective’s popular The Market Warehouse events, which brought together local creatives, independent traders, artists, DJs, and the wider community. The events helped demonstrate the potential of the venue as a vibrant social and cultural destination within the town centre.
Ellesmere Port Collective has welcomed the refurbishment plans and expressed excitement about the future opportunities the redevelopment will bring.
“We’re incredibly proud to have been part of activating the space through The Market Warehouse events and showing what it could become for the community,” a spokesperson for Ellesmere Port Collective said. “We look forward to working within the new events space following the refurbishment and continuing to create experiences that bring people together in Ellesmere Port.”
The refurbishment forms part of wider regeneration efforts across Ellesmere Port, with the goal of supporting local businesses, increasing footfall, and creating modern community-focused spaces for residents and visitors alike.
Further updates on the redevelopment and future events are expected to be announced as works progress.
