Ellesmere Port Collective Officially Becomes a Community Interest Company

Ellesmere Port Collective has officially become a Community Interest Company (CIC), marking an important new chapter for the growing community-led organisation.

The group formally became a CIC on 3rd March 2025, taking the next step in developing what originally began as a loose collective of local people brought together by a shared interest in culture, creativity, music, events and community activity within Ellesmere Port.

Over the past few years, the collective has steadily grown through grassroots collaboration, independent projects and a belief that Ellesmere Port deserves more opportunities for people to connect, create and take pride in the town.

What started informally between friends, artists, organisers, DJs, creatives and local supporters has evolved into something with wider ambitions and a clearer long-term vision.

Becoming a CIC allows Ellesmere Port Collective to formalise its structure and create stronger foundations for future projects. The move will help the organisation apply for funding, develop partnerships, organise larger events and create more opportunities that directly benefit the local community.

The collective says the decision was made not to change what the group is about, but to make it possible to do more of it.

Since forming, Ellesmere Port Collective has worked to support independent culture, bring people together through events and create new opportunities for collaboration across the town. The organisation hopes becoming a CIC will open the door to more ambitious community projects in the future.

The collective also stressed that community involvement will remain central to everything it does, with the CIC structure designed to ensure that future growth continues to benefit local people.

As the organisation moves forward, Ellesmere Port Collective says this is only the beginning of a much bigger journey for the town’s independent creative and cultural community.
